AlphaPoint Taps Cboe Exec Rathi to Grow Trading, Exchanges Business
AlphaPoint hopes that Rathi's experience at exchanges will help it create support for cryptocurrency-linked investment products with broader investor appeal.
New York-based blockchain technology provider AlphaPoint has hired Kapil Rathi, former head of equity options at Cboe Global Markets, as global head of trading markets, in charge of the vendor’s business serving digital asset exchanges and trading firms. In the newly-created role, Rathi will also be responsible for expanding the range of cryptocurrency-related assets supported by AlphaPoint’s technology, and for helping to make those assets more liquid and accessible to a wider audience of investors.
Rathi joined Cboe via its acquisition of Bats Global Markets, where he was SVP of the exchange’s options business strategy. Before that, he was head of product management at the International Securities Exchange, prior to which he was a senior business analyst at the New York Stock Exchange.
“Institutions have not only started to accept cryptocurrencies and digital assets but are also creating new financial products based off of them,” says Rathi in a statement. “I have seen customer demand for new financial products in crypto grow over the past few years and… AlphaPoint has constantly introduced new innovations and products in the crypto and blockchain space and helped financial institutions like banks, exchanges, brokers and trading firms in embracing this remarkable technology.”
