Asia Awards 2022: Best AI initiative—Standard Chartered

Standard Chartered wins the best AI initiative category in this year’s WatersTechnology Asia Awards thanks to its Skynet observability platform, designed to solve issues caused by customer journeys changing states and traversing multiple systems built with disparate technologies. Skynet introduced artificial intelligence to the firm’s IT operations (AIOps) by implementing big data, advanced analytics and machine learning (ML) across its customer service journeys. Skynet on Cloud enables additional cloud-based ML models to be applied to the firm’s AIOps solution to enhance its accuracy.

The Skynet platform has seen several recent enhancements. Its APM feature was launched for digital platforms, helping application teams spot performance problems and tune JVM parameters based on historic trends, while its data pipeline aggregates critical events and infra metrics in real time and uses the aggregated information for its AIOps solution.

The launch of Skynet impressed this year’s judges, successfully scaling up to support on-premises and cloud application integrations within a year. The platform is set to keep growing. There are plans to leverage the cloud to allow Skynet to archive information and use this archived information to meet regulatory requirements. Furthermore, Standard Chartered hopes that Skynet on Cloud will soon be able to handle higher volumes, ranging from 8 billion to 15 billion messages a day.
