Avelacom Adds Multi-Cloud Connectivity for Crypto Traders
Direct links set up in each location “jump” from points-of-presence to a cloud in under a millisecond.
Low-latency network provider Avelacom is now offering multi-cloud connectivity to enable traders to connect to cryptocurrency exchanges on demand.
Proprietary trading firms, hedge funds, and other professional currency traders now have secure, direct, and ultra-low latency access to cryptocurrency exchanges hosted in Alibaba Cloud, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and the Google Cloud platform.
Aleksey Larichev, CEO at Avelacom, says because crypto exchanges are completely different from traditional exchanges, the requirements for institutional crypto traders—who already have extensive experience and highly developed infrastructures—are different too.
He tells WatersTechnology that institutional traders need to consider where to deploy their machines to be closer to the crypto exchanges’ infrastructure.
This is because crypto exchanges usually use virtual cloud servers without the power to process massive amounts of data, particularly during trading peaks. “And they’re not as transparent about the infrastructure so [they] don’t provide information on the geographic location of their servers,” he says.
If traders want access to multiple exchanges, Larichev says they must use low-latency networks; otherwise, they can’t get the required speed advantage or guaranteed network uptime. Having the ability to “jump” to different clouds with minimal latency is also important when accessing these exchanges.
“Overall, they also need to be able to move quickly, entering new markets at speed with the flexibility to migrate between clouds and geographic zones because the crypto environment is unstable and changes fast,” he says.
Avelacom is offering clients a free trial of one to one-and-a-half weeks to test network latencies and uptime and to see the impact on their profit and loss, with no obligations.
The solution uses Avelacom’s network of more than 80 points-of-presence (PoPs) located in datacenters across EMEA, Asia-Pacific, and North America. It partners with AWS, Alibaba, and Azure and has set up direct links in each location to jump from its PoP to a cloud in under a millisecond.
As there are no physical cross-connects required; the multi-cloud solution offers lower cost barriers with a setup time of as little as two hours.
“Avelacom’s infrastructure has been already built up and is ready to go, providing clients flexibility and fast setup. Clients don’t need to purchase direct links to clouds (high-bandwidth ports) and co-location space in datacenters—they share existing Avelacom links, existing Avelacom co-location space and ports,” he says.
It provides connections up to 10Mbps, a bandwidth that Larichev says is optimal for crypto trading.
