Duco Expands into Singapore, Wrocław and Edinburgh
The London-based data engineering company is opening three new offices.
The London-based data engineering company’s new locations will be open by September. The expansion follows a $28 million funding round in January this year.
Mireille Dyrberg, Duco COO, says the company has been placing “technical, operational” people in Poland because “there is great talent and lower cost.” The Singapore office was initially going to be dedicated to client services, not sales, she says, but a decision was made to opt for a “much more expansive strategy for Asia” and the new office will now offer the full range of services. Duco’s research and innovation team, DucoLabs, is expanding into Edinburgh.
Dyrberg says Brexit did not specifically influence the company’s geographical decisions, but it is grappling with a lack of London-based technical candidates.
“I don’t know how much is because of Brexit or how much is because there is a flurry of tech innovation in London at the moment, but we have struggled to fill the vacancies that we have for tech in London. We’ve been expanding at such a rate, and we have hired some amazing people in London, but it’s just that we have to hire so many more,” Dyrberg says. “We think the right thing to do is to expand into regions where there are pools of tech talent.”
She anticipates that Duco is likely to “set up further offices down the line, but not in the immediate future.”
