Execs Exit Iress in Canada, South Africa

Resignation letter

Jim Davies, president and chief executive of Iress Market Technology Canada, will step down at the end of this year, while Michael Harrison, head of sales in Canada, will become managing director of the vendor's Canadian business.

Davies joined Iress at the start of 2006 after two years in senior roles at Reuters, prior to which he served as president and chief operating officer at Karsten Chase Applied Research, and held senior roles at Standard & Poor's and Dow Jones Telerate, including president and CEO of Dow Jones Telerate Canada.

Meanwhile, Philippe Moretonas will reduce his involvement with the vendor over the next six months "to focus on other interests," officials say. Ray Pretorius, managing director of financial markets in South Africa, who joined the vendor as a result of its acquisition of South African FIX technology vendor Peresys, becomes managing director of South Africa.

Moretonas joined the company in 2007 following Iress' purchase of Spotlight Interactive, which he founded.
