Fenergo Adds Coughlan, Raises Watson for Sales, Marketing Drive
The pair have significant sales and marketing experience in the financial services sector, which officials expect to help Fenergo accelerate its growth trajectory.
Coughlan was previously global head of marketing for Risk, Regulation & Compliance at Thomson Reuters, responsible for its Mifid II, KYC and RegTech marketing, as well as serving as AI marketing lead. He joined Thomson Reuters in 2012, and has since held senior marketing roles across the vendor’s financial business lines, including Enterprise Content, Investors, and Pricing and Reference Services.
Before that, he was global head of product marketing at Fitch Solutions, and global head of marketing at Xtrakter (now MarketAxess’ Trax business), before and after its spin-off from the International Capital Markets Association.
His hire follows the vendor’s decision to promote Watson to managing director and global head of sales at the start of this year. Watson joined Fenergo last year as head of partnerships, prior to which he was managing director and global head of the client management group in HSBC’s Global Banking & Markets division, where he spent seven years in various senior business management and client onboarding roles.
Before that, Watson was a manager at Collier Capital, a director at UBS, head of business systems at energy company Centrica, a program director at Reuters, and a business manager for online and e-commerce business at New Zealand-based ASB Bank.
Both report to Fenergo CEO Marc Murphy, who says Coughlan will lead the vendor’s digital marketing efforts and deepen its penetration within the financial markets, while Watson will be able to leverage his “deep understanding of the client’s perspective.”
“These appointments underscore our commitment to our clients, ensuring that we will engage them in a manner that directly supports their requirements,” Murphy adds.
