The platform features multiple channels for accessing and integrating Fitch data into users' workflows, including a web interface, datafeed, API and a Microsoft Excel add-in.

The data includes ratings for 9,000 entities plus Fitch's universe of 1.34 million current and historical credit ratings; credit research and commentary covering 31 countries, 24 sectors and more than 140,000 research reports; and fundamentals on more than 30,000 public and private banks and 11,600 insurers, plus economic and forecasting data for most of the world's sovereign nations.

The fundamental financial data was previously only available via third-party resellers, and will now only be available via Fitch Connect.

Officials say the new platform will provide credit professionals with "transparent, timely and insightful information," to support efficient risk management decisions.

"We work with credit professionals and bankers every day and have developed a strong understanding of what content and capabilities they need most. The Fitch Connect platform is built using next-generation technology, which provides us the ability to quickly respond to our clients' needs," says Brian Filanowski, global head of product at Fitch Solutions.
