Reuters' Robert Etherington is leaving his post as London-based international marketing manager for Reuters' transaction products to become vice president of global accounts in New York City. With his new appointment, Etherington will report to downtown district head Janet Pistone and will be responsible for Reuters' clients Chase Manhattan Bank, Salomon Brothers Inc. and Prudential Securities Inc., among others.
Credit Suisse/First Boston Corp. has beefed up its market data group, hiring Steve Ellenberg from Telekurs (North America) Inc. Ellenburg is a systems administrator at CS/FBC.
Sources familiar with his plans say that Dow Jones Telerate sales executive Jim Fiesel is leaving Telerate to go to Bloomberg to work on the Bloomberg/Micrognosis Inc. interface (IMD, April 11). Fiesel was the senior sales executive for Telerate's digital data distribution platform, sold under the aegis of the vendor's Telerate Trading Room Systems unit (Trading Systems Technology, May 2). At Telerate, Fiesel's duties will be picked up by the senior Chicago-based Telerate account executive Alan Schantz. Schantz, in addition to picking up Fiesel's duties, will retain his existing responsibilities. There are currently no plans to replace him at Telerate, according to sources.
Dow Jones Telerate, in a recent Wall Street Journal issue, placed four ads seeking staff to join its core network backbone group, its Stratus development group and its PC projects group. The vendor is also looking for software development engineers, a marketing manager and a Boston-based account manager.
Parent Dow Jones & Co., meanwhile, is looking for an assistant director of content strategy and acquisition for its business information services segment in Princeton, N.J.
Reuters, in an ad laying claim a personnel base of "10,000 employees," seeks to make it 10,001. The vendor solicits a fixed-income analytic specialist for its Washington, D.C., offices, to assist in marketing and support of its new fixed-income services. Reuters requires two to three years of experience analyzing fixed-income instruments; trading room experience is a plus, as is a math degree.
