As part of a firmwide reshuffle, PaineWebber Inc. has relieved Bob Benmosche, executive vice president for operations systems and administration, of his technology duties. Benmosche was responsible for selecting Quotron to provide market data for the firm's retail broker quote system. Benmosche has been reassigned to a position on the business side, where he will manage the firm's southern division. He will no longer sit on the brokerage firm's executive committee, which has been reduced to just four members in the reorganization. Benmosche has been replaced on the technology side by Ronald Schwartz, who had executive vice president of marketing. Schwartz has been given the title of chief administrative officer, and will oversee human resources, as well as administration, operations and systems.
Glen Weinbaum has recently decamped from Morgan Stanley & Co. Weinbaum had worked in the firm's market data division, and his responsibilities have been carved up among the department. Ed Pavelle, a long-time Morgan Stanley veteran, has joined the group and assumed some of the oversight Weinbaum relinquished.
Effective today, Citicorp vice president for technology Christine Berthet is joining ADP to head the strategic investments group of the vendor's Financial Information Services group. Berthet is an alumna of IMNet, the ill-fated joint venture between Merrill Lynch & Co. and IBM, which went bust in 1986. She has since worked at Merrill, Drexel Burnham Lambert and Citicorp. As part of her new job, Berthet will oversee ADP's efforts to design and develop the successor to its FS Partner quote service.
