Dow Jones Telerate's development group has a slightly new shape these days. All in the department still report, directly or indirectly, to executive vice president Henry Becher. But effective two weeks ago Denny Warner, previously vice president, became senior vice president, and added technical planning to his previous tasks of research and development (R&D) and international marketing. Vice presidents Chuck Barnes and Walt Christensen retain their titles and duties -- terminal products, and systems and networks, respectively -- but report now to Ken Herts, vice president/business manager. Previously Barnes and Christensen had answered directly to Becher. Vice president for program management Ted Scott is out altogether, having departed for the dreaded pursuit of "other interests." Becher's remaining direct reports -- vice presidents Debra Walton-Collings and Rich Ordowich, and executive director Frank Panella -- continue to report directly to him. These are the first major organizational changes that Becher has made since he assumed charge of the vendor's development organization last spring (IMD, March 23), and are meant to simplify and rationalize what has been a complex reporting structure.
McGraw-Hill Inc.'s S&P Comstock has named Richard Barton (with an 'a') as its director of technology. Previously, he was manager of Comstock's quality assurance group.
