Five more brokerage firms have agreed to provide their research reports exclusively to First Call's Research Direct for electronic delivery to institutional clients, bringing the total number of signed contributors to 16. The new contributors are: McDonald & Co. Securities of Cleveland, PaineWebber, Piper Jaffray of Minneapolis, Robinson-Humphrey Co. of Atlanta and UBS Securities in New York. Meanwhile, Multex Systems, First Call's rival in the full-text graphical research delivery market, has garnered a total of 18 signed contributors. Multex's three new contributors are: Janney Montgomery Scott of Philadelphia, Pacific Crest Securities of Portland, Ore. and McDep Associates in New York.
Princeton Financial Systems
has opened a sales office in Seattle, bringing its total number of sales offices to eight. The company, which is headquartered in Princeton, N.J., also has promoted two employees to the newly created position of area sales manager. Elizabeth Pagan has been promoted to western area sales manager and Brad Rossa has been named eastern area sales manager. Together, the two supervise 11 sales and sales support managers, according to Gordon Gacek, director of marketing services. Princeton Financial's sales offices are located in: Boston, Chicago, Denver, Des Moines, New York, San Francisco, Seattle and St. Louis.Advent Software
has hired Mike Morini as vice president of outside sales and Harry Stover, who reports to Morini, as sales manager. Both Morini and Stover, who were previously with American Software, are based in New York. Also in the New York office, two sales representatives--Chris Casey and Phil Gorrivan--have left the company. In San Francisco, Steve Asche, previously a vice president of marketing at Full Contact--a Macintosh contact management firm--has joined as a product manager of a contact management software system. The system is primarily targeted towards brokerage customers such as Kidder Peabody & Co. and William Blair & Co. Ted Puryear was hired to head Advent's inside telesales for all territories. He previously was Oracle's manager of North American telesales. Meanwhile, Maria Curran, one of Advent's senior sales people, has opened a sales office in Boston.Securities Software & Consulting
in Hartford, Conn. has hired Eugene Filshtein to assist in the development of a suite of financial modeling tools called Finesse. Finesse is a financial model for strategic planning and dynamic solvency testing for insurance companies. Filshtein will be a senior developer. He was previously president of West Hartford, Conn.-based Modex Software. Also at SS&C, Rakesh Kabra has joined the firm as a research analyst. Kabra will be responsible for data management and tracking any emerging issues and requirements affecting the investment industry. Before joining SS&C, Kabra worked as a research analyst at Xerox Corp. in India.Magnus Software
plans to release version 5.0 of its Securities Management System (SMS) in March. The vendor says that version 5.0 of SMS--Magnus' portfolio accounting and management system--will have enhanced functionality in several areas, including: trade settlement transactions, dollar roll support, TBA support and cash custodial interface.Robert Riley
has been named president and chief operating officer of Dreyfus Corp., replacing Joseph DiMartino, who resigned at the end of last year. Riley spent 11 years at the Prudential Insurance Co. of America before retiring last June. Most recently, he was chairman and chief executive officer of the Prudential Reinsurance Co.
