McGraw-Hill Shifts Commodities Chief Christie To Head Up RIS
THIS WEEK'S LEAD STORIES
McGraw-Hill Inc. named Robert Christie group vice president of the Retail Investor Services (RIS) segment of its Financial Information Services group, succeeding Ed McEntire, who resigned. Meanwhile, Christie will be replaced as group vice president of the company's Commodities Information Services (CIS) segment by David Smith, currently head of international sales for CIS.
McGraw-Hill's RIS is one of several segments comprising the Financial Information Services group. That group is headed by executive vice president Michael Hehir, to whom both Christie and Smith will report.
Hehir reports to executive vice president Harold (a.k.a. Terry) McGraw III. The Financial Information Services group also includes the CIS operation, S&P ComStock, MMS International and CompuStat, the top executives of which all report to Hehir. Also reporting to Hehir is James Mitos, vice president of financial planning.
'SCOPING OUT RIS
As head of RIS, Christie will be responsible for such services as MarketScope, MarketScope Alert, the Standard & Poor's Corp. Index-related services and bond-market data services. Christie will retain responsibility for S&P ComStock.
Smith, meanwhile, will take over responsibility for the CIS group products, among them the Platt's energy- and metals- related services. McEntire's other executive post, head of CompuStat, will be taken over by Donna Hambric.
According to sources at McGraw-Hill, McEntire left for the Denver area to take up a position at "a major information company." McEntire couldn't be reached for comment.
Christie emerged from McGraw-Hill's Platt's operation, taking on responsibility for S&P ComStock earlier this year. Sources at McGraw-Hill say Christie's appointment is expected to inject new blood into RIS, particularly with regard to the creation of new real-time services in the group. Christie didn't return calls. Hehir was on vacation and couldn't be reached for comment. Sources say Smith also emerged from Platt's and is close to Christie.
