AlgoDynamix Taps Hillier-Brook for North America Sales

Data industry veteran Ian Hillier-Brook has joined UK-based risk forecasting software vendor AlgoDynamix as president of North American sales, responsible for getting senior buy-in for its products in the region.

Hillier-Brook was most recently CEO of MCO Europe, the European distributor of McObject’s eXtremeDB database, and has run his own management, sales and marketing consultancy, Ian H-B Associates, as well as serving as a director for various technology companies, including Satoru Consulting, WDX Organisation, Data Stream Analytics, and as managing director of Market Information Services, which was acquired by Moneyline Telerate.

Hillier-Brook will be based in London and travel to the US regularly. He reports to AlgoDynamix co-founder and executive director Jeremy Sosabowski.

Tourmaline Partners Hires Aird as European MD

Tourmaline Partners, an outsourced trading firm headquartered in London, has named Rowley Aird as European managing director. He will drive continued growth in the EMEA region to meet increased demand for outsourced trading in Europe.

His most recent post was as head of trading and execution services, Europe, at CLSA. There, he was responsible for all high- and low-touch offerings, and oversaw the firm’s implementation of Mifid II best-execution requirements. Prior to that, Aird was based in Hong Kong and served in senior sales roles at UBS, Liquidnet and Bloomberg.

He will carry out his new role from London.  

Asset Control Launches New Practices Group, Names Director

Gil Leon will lead Asset Control’s newly minted Practice Group, designed to be a consultancy arm on data mastering and data exploration technology for new and existing customers. As practice director, he will use his background in derivatives, market risk and regulatory reporting to guide the group and solve clients’ business challenges.

He joins the financial software firm after serving as a managing partner and co-founder of Alpha-Management Group since 2013. Prior to that, he spent eight years at Moore Capital Management as director of trading services and risk information data management. Leon has spent much of his 30-year-career managing projects and architecting tech solutions for banks, hedge funds and fund administration clients.

Leon will be based out of New York and report to Nathan Wolaver, the company’s managing director of the Americas.

New Head of Financial Information Joins SIX Board

SIX Swiss Exchange has tapped Marion Leslie to join SIX as head of the financial information business unit at the start of next year. At the same time, current department head Robert Jeanbart has announced his retirement, effective at the end of December.

Jeanbart has held the title since 2014. During his tenure, he restructured the unit by developing new business areas, expanding its regulatory data and services business, and strengthening reference data and corporate actions business.

Leslie will take Jeanbart’s seat on the SIX executive board when he assumes the new role. She joins from Refinitiv, where she had been since 1994. After holding several management roles, she became a managing director in 2013, responsible for the data business in regulation, pricing and reference data. In her last role at Refinitiv, Leslie was managing director, enterprise, in which she delivered market data, platforms and services to the global financial markets.

Once in her new role, Leslie will be based in Switzerland.

Northwestern Mutual Reshuffles Senior Leadership

Northwestern Mutual has announced eight changes to its senior leadership team. Each appointment is already a member of the firm, but has taken on new responsibilities or moved to a different role.

Chief innovation officer Souheil Badran will become COO, responsible for insurance and investment operations and leading the company’s strategy around enterprise operational performance.

Chief marketing and communications officer Aditi Javeri Gokhale is now chief commercial officer and president of investment products and services. She assumes new duties such as performance and integration of the company’s investment products and services business, while continuing to oversee the corporate strategy, marketing and strategic communications function.

Executive vice president of insurance products and client services John Grogan has been named chief product and innovation officer and assumes responsibility for the company’s innovation investments into adjacent and disruptive markets, including the company venture funds. He continues to lead risk product strategy and development, as well as risk selection and standards.

Neal Sample, chief information officer, assumes new responsibilities for enterprise information risk compliance, digital workplace solutions, and IT for employees and field.

Christian Mitchell, chief customer officer, will lead the design, development and delivery of an integrated customer experience and maintain oversight for digital financial planning, digital products and customer analytics.

At the same time, chief people officer, Joann Eisenhart, will retire by the end of October. Duties held by Mike Carter, chief financial and risk officer; Tim Gerend, chief distribution officer; and Ron Joelson, investment officer, remain unchanged.

Finantix Appoints Switzerland Business Development Director

Jérôme Vasamillet has joined Finantix, technology provider for the wealth management, banking and insurance industries, as business development director in Switzerland. He is tasked with growing the company’s Nordic presence, and will work alongside the firm’s research and development team and clients to extend its core product suite.

Vasamillet has worked at several startups and two accelerators, including Fusion, where he was an entrepreneur-in-residence supporting new fintech companies. His banking and wealth management background includes two stints as a senior investment counsellor at both Deutsche Bank and EFG Asset Management.
