People Moves: Anna, Cowen, UBS, HKEx, and more

Anna adds Krajowy Depozyt Papierów Wartościowych SA to board

The Association of National Numbering Agencies, a global member association seeking to foster standardization within the financial industry, has added Krajowy Depozyt Papierów Wartościowych SA as a new board member, represented by Slawomir Zajac.

Zajac is director of the trade repository department at KDPW SA, the Central Securities Depository of Poland, and is an expert in the field of regulatory reporting. He supervises the issuance of international securities identification numbers, classification of financial instrument codes, and financial instrument short names codes for KDPW as the Polish National Numbering Agency. 

Board members Euroclear Bank SA/NV, represented by Dan Kuhnel, and Chilean DCV Asesorías y Servicios SA, represented by Claudio Garin, were re-elected to their positions.

The Anna board consists of individuals holding senior positions at global financial institutions. The Securities Depository Center of Jordan, represented by Sarah Tarawneh, is leaving the Anna board after three years.

Cowen expands global capital introduction team with senior roles

Cowen has expanded its global capital introduction team with the new senior appointments of Amy Cheung and Daniel McGlinn. Cowen’s global capital introduction team now comprises eight capital introduction professionals, with additional hires planned over the next couple of years.

Amy Cheung, based in Hong Kong and the first team member in the APAC region, joins as vice president after three years working in investor relations and business development at hedge fund Bright Stream Capital Management. Daniel McGlinn joins the San Francisco office, also as vice president, after six years at PNC Asset Management, where he was a member of the alternative strategies team responsible for external manager selection.

UBS adds former Morgan Stanley traders to Execution Hub

UBS has added Jon Slavin and Sherri Cohen from Morgan Stanley Investment Management to roles for Execution Hub, Americas.

Slavin will lead the group and be responsible for setting up and running the US trading team and driving regional client strategy. He will have overall responsibility for the running the US business and will contribute to UBS’s global strategy.

Slavin brings a wealth of buy-side experience to the role and he was most recently global head of equity trading at Morgan Stanley Investment Management, as well as previous leadership trading roles at PIMCO, Weiss Multi-Strategy, and Sigma Capital.

Cohen will be responsible for business development of Execution Hub in the Americas. Cohen previously ran global emerging markets trading, the infrastructure development of MSIM trading systems and trading COO functions at Morgan Stanley Investment Management. She brings additional buy-side experience from Sogen Funds, GE Asset Management, and State Street Bank.

Slavin will report locally to Todd Lopez, Americas head of execution services, and globally to Mark Goodman, global head of Execution Hub. Cohen will report locally to Slavin.

HKEX appoints Adam Singer as chief compliance officer

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited has appointed Adam Singer as HKEx Group chief compliance officer. He will work across HKEx to lead and oversee compliance functions.

Singer joins HKEx from JP Morgan, where he was APAC head of core compliance and operational risk. He had previously held regional leadership roles within the equity sales and research division of JP Morgan.

Singer will join in September, and will report to Richard Wise, group chief risk officer. He will also become a member of the management committee.

Broctagon adds Michael Lee as head of FX sales

Broctagon Fintech Group, a multi-asset liquidity and brokerage technology provider, has hired Michael Lee as head of FX sales to support its move towards establishing a greater presence in the APAC region. He will be responsible for driving the growth of its liquidity solutions, targeting the institutional space as a priority. Lee will also identify opportunities and implement strategies to onboard new licensed entities, such as institutional brokers, hedge funds, family funds, and asset managers.

Lee brings 19 years of experience in the futures markets and trading innovation. Prior to joining Broctagon, he held numerous senior positions in trading, including heading up the futures and options business at Maybank Investment Bank before being promoted to regional head of Maybank.

Deirdre Goldenbogen to become executive director of RIXML.org

RIXML.org, an industry association focused on improving the process of electronic research distribution and capturing investment interaction details, has chosen Deirdre Goldenbogen as its new executive director. Current executive director Jim Ulrich is leaving at the end of June to pursue a career in the public service sector.

Goldenbogen has been an active member of RIXML.org for more than 20 years. With ongoing support from member firms, the organization will continue to focus on topics such as entitlements, linkbacks, and the emerging environmental, social, and governance taxonomy landscape, as well as embarking upon a complete review of the RIXML Standards Suite.
