ASX CEO Dominic Stevens plans to retire

The Australian Securities Exchange managing director and chief executive officer Dominic Stevens has announced his intention to retire this year.

Stevens was in his ninth year at ASX and sixth year as CEO, having joined ASX as an independent non-executive director in December 2013 after close to 30 years’ experience in financial markets. He was appointed ASX CEO in August 2016.

He will continue to serve as CEO until a successor is appointed.

Nasdaq appoints senior director of product for Data Fabric

Nasdaq’s managed data API service Data Fabric, has appointed of Eddie Hsu Pugmire as senior director of product to support and expand the platform’s userbase and capabilities.

Prior to joining Nasdaq, he was the vice president of data and analytics at Zencore Group and managing director of data and analytics at Qarik Group. He also spent four years at Google on their data team as a cloud adviser to hedge fund customers.

Launched in November 2021, Data Fabric provides clients with secure, end-to-end data hosting through fully managed infrastructure and data onboarding services enabling firms to integrate internal and external data sets rapidly. Clients use a single API to access hundreds of datasets from Nasdaq, Nasdaq’s partners, and their own internal datasets.

Capco appoints senior executives in APAC

Capco, a global technology and management consultancy, has announced the appointment of two senior executives as part of its expansion strategy in the Asia-Pacific region. The new executives are Rezwan Shafique and Edwin Hui.

Shafique has been named a partner and will be focused on wealth management and capital markets. He has 18 years of financial services and consulting experience, including senior roles at Delta Capita, Deloitte, and Credit Suisse. He will be based in Hong Kong.

Hui has been named executive director and APAC data lead. He has over 20 years’ consulting experience, focusing on data strategy and governance, performance management, and data architecture. In his most recent role, he led the applied intelligence practice at Accenture in Hong Kong and previously held senior roles at KPMG, IBM, and HSBC. He will also be based in Hong Kong.

FDIC board of directors approves trio of corporate officers

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) board of directors has approved the selection of three new corporate officers: Kymberly Copa as deputy to the acting chairman and chief of staff; Daniel Bendler as deputy to the acting chairman and chief operating officer; and Harrel Pettway to the position of general counsel.

Copa has served as the acting deputy to the FDIC director since March 2019, providing analysis and advice on matters pending before the FDIC board of directors. Prior to that, she served as senior special counsel (legislative counsel and regulatory law expert) in the FDIC’s legal division. From August 2011 to August 2018, Copa served as the deputy to the chairman. She has also been the chairman’s representative on the audit committee, supervision appeals review committee, case review committee, and assessment appeals committee. Prior to becoming deputy to the chairman in 2011, she served as senior counsel for the assessments and legislation section of the legal division. Copa has been with the FDIC for 31 years.

Bendler will retain his role as the director of the division of administration (DOA), which provides all administrative services to the FDIC. In 2019, he was named the special adviser to the deputy to the chairman and chief operating officer. He was also assistant director of the management services branch in DOA. He has overseen the agency’s response to the pandemic, as well as other corporate initiatives. Bendler has been with the FDIC for 31 years.

Pettway was named senior deputy general counsel in the FDIC’s legal division in May 2019. Prior to that, he served as deputy general counsel. He joined the FDIC in July 2015 as an assistant general counsel for labor, employment, and administration, and was promoted to deputy general counsel for corporate operations in 2016. He was responsible for advising the FDIC chairman and board members on corporate authorities, labor and employment law, contracts and procurement, the Freedom of Information Act, privacy, information security, ethics, dispute resolution, and litigation.

Prior to joining the FDIC, Pettway was deputy general counsel at the Defense Logistics Agency in Fort Belvoir, Virginia. He was also chief legal officer at the Defense Technical Information Center in Fort Belvoir.

Preqin hires APAC head of research

Preqin, an investment data company, has appointed data management veteran Geetanjali Bhalotia as its head of research in APAC. This fits into the firm’s goals to deepen its data coverage in APAC and further its relationships within the alternative assets industry. In her new role, she is responsible for executing the company’s data strategy in APAC and will be a key member of the regional leadership team.

Bhalotia started her career at JP Morgan before moving to credit risk management at Deutsche Bank. Most recently, she was Bloomberg’s head of data management for Southeast Asia and Australia, managing multiple asset classes including equities, loans, and commodities.

Euronext Securities Oslo appoints Bastøe as CEO

Euronext Securities, the Euronext central securities depository connecting European economies to global capital markets, has appointed Kristine Bastøe as chief executive officer of Euronext Securities Oslo, effective March 1. Bastøe will lead the development of Euronext Securities Oslo and contribute to Euronext’s strategy to scale up Euronext Securities. As part of the new strategy, Euronext Securities will expand its service offering over the next three years, converging platforms across markets, and scaling up its activities across Europe.

She joined Euronext Securities Oslo in 2017 as a management consultant, and in 2019 became a permanent employee in the role as executive vice president and head of products.

Sundaram joins Xpansiv as CTO

Xpansiv, a global marketplace for environmental, social, and governance commodities, has announced Sesh Sundaram will become the company’s chief technology officer. Sundara brings more than 20 years of experience in capital markets, having last served as managing director of engineering and execution at CME Group, where he headed engineering across trading, clearing, and risk management systems.

Etrading Software grows its management team

Etrading Software, a global provider of technology solutions to address market and regulatory challenges, is growing its senior management team with the additions of James Haskell as its new chief operating officer and David Lane as its new chief technology officer.

Haskell previously served as an executive director at Goldman Sachs for 13 years before joining Etrading as a business operations officer in 2020. Lane previously worked at RBS and ABN Amro before joining Etrading.

IQ-EQ appoints global head of outsourced business services

IQ-EQ, a service provider to alternative asset managers, has named Matt Okolita global head of outsourced business services.

He previously led Greyline Partners, a regulatory compliance and governance consultancy that was acquired by IQ-EQ in November 2021. Through this new role, IQ-EQ will look to utilize his regulatory expertise to grow its outsourced business services offering. He will report directly to Mark Fordyce, Americas regional chief executive officer, and join the IQ-EQ US executive leadership team.

Citycom dials up Procops for sales

Citycom Solutions, a UK-based provider of compliance monitoring software for voice and video communications, has appointed Tony Procops chief revenue officer. He will be based in New York.

Procops joined the vendor as a part-time adviser in the middle of last year, before taking on his current role full time around year-end. He was previously CEO and founder of Compass Ventures, prior to which he was vice president of global sales at voice and chat communications software vendor Venncomm. He also spent seven years as VP of global sales for communications compliance at Nice Systems.

In his new role, Procops reports to Citycom founder and CEO Mark Whiteman.

Rapid Addition strengthens technology team with CTO hire

Rapid Addition has announced the appointment of Deepak Dhayatker as chief technology officer. His responsibilities will include scaling the engineering and professional services functions. He will also work with the senior architect team to ensure the ongoing evolution of Rapid Addition’s middleware platform and broader suite of electronic trading technologies.

Dhayatker joins from Commerzbank, where he was responsible for building electronic trading and platform development teams across multiple locations. Prior to Commerzbank, he held senior software engineering roles at BNP Paribas, Dresdner Bank, and CMC Markets.

He will split his time between London and Prague, Rapid Addition’s core development hub, and will report to CEO Mike Powell as a member of the senior leadership team.
