People Moves: AWS, DTCC, Refinitiv, CloudMargin and More
A look at some of the key recent 'people moves', including Adam Honore (pictured) who joins Amazon Web Services from CME Group.
Former CME Head of Product Management Joins AWS
Adam Honore, former head of product management for data services at CME Group, has left the exchange to join Amazon Web Services as financial services business development manager.
Before joining CME in 2017, Honore ran his own strategic advisory firm, MarketsTec. Prior to that, he was a managing director at Nasdaq OMX, responsible for its FinQloud cloud offering, which Nasdaq exited in 2014, handing off the assets to AWS. Before Nasdaq, Honore spent seven-and-a-half years at research and advisory firm Aite Group as research director for capital markets, prior to which he was product director for front office brokerage solutions at Comprehensive Software Systems.
Two Industry Veterans Join DTCC Director’s Board
The Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation (DTCC), a post-trade infrastructure for the global financial services industry, has announced the election of two new members to its board of directors. Deborah Cunningham and Craig Messinger will work closely with the firm’s leadership and help to provide guidance around topics such as risk management, regulatory matters, the development of new products and services and emerging fintech.
Cunningham is a chief investment officer of Global Liquidity Markets at Federated Hermes. She joined the firm in 1981 as a performance analyst and has more than 30 years’ investment experience. Since joining the company, she has held a number of senior roles, including portfolio manager for all government and prime liquidity products.
Messinger has been working in the financial services industry for 40 years and, much like Cunningham, can bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the firm. He currently serves on the executive management team and is vice chairman at Virtu Financial, Inc. He is also the CEO for Virty Americas LLC, one of Virtu’s Finra-registered broker-dealers. Before that, he was executive vice president and global head of trading and risk management at BNY Mellon and a member of the bank’s operating committee and the global markets executive committee.
Drawbridge Hires Head of Europe
Cybersecurity software and services firm, Drawbridge Partners, has announced it will appoint a new managing director to oversee the European market. Simon Eyre will lead the company’s engineering, product and customer engagement teams across Europe. Eyre will be based in Drawbridge’s recently opened European headquarters in London, and will report to Jason Elmer, CEO.
Eyre brings over 20 years of experience in IT governance, technology architecture, cybersecurity and corporate strategy to the firm. Most recently he was director of information security at Edge Technology Group, and was responsible for the cybersecurity of both the firm and its clients. Prior to that, he held senior roles at Eze Castle Integration, ultimately moving into the role of director of service.
Head of Digital Solutions Joins Refinitiv
Charles Smith will join financial markets data and infrastructure provider Refinitiv as head of digital solutions, wealth management. In this role, he will lead the firm’s global digital wealth management solutions and be responsible for its strategic direction and impact.
Prior to joining Refinitiv, Smith spent eight years as a managing director in EY’s wealth and asset management practise, where he worked in many US financial services institutions on key wealth management areas. He also held senior leadership roles at Fiserv/CheckFree, Misys (now Finastra) and Thomson Financial (now Refinitiv).
Smith holds an MBA from Columbia Business School.
STAC Nabs New Director of Strategy
Industry benchmarking body the Securities Technology Analysis Center (STAC) has hired Peter Nabicht as director of strategy to expand the organization’s benchmark offerings, and grow the organization’s membership.
Nabicht was most recently head of electronic market development for Tradeweb’s Dealerweb platform business, prior to which he was an independent consultant and co-founder, COO and president of 12Sided Technology, a technology and market structure advisory firm. Before that, he served as a senior advisor to the Modern Markets Initiative, prior to which he spent five years at Allston Trading, initially as CTO, then as EVP of business development.
At STAC, he reports to founder and CEO Peter Lankford.
Cassini Systems Builds Out APAC
Cassini Systems, a provider of pre- and post-trade margin analytics for derivatives market participants, has announced the hiring of Greg Ballesty as product specialist, Asia Pacific. The new appointment comes as the firm expands their presence in the APAC region with a new office opening in Sydney, Australia. Ballesty will be the first physical presence in APAC. The new office has opened following the recent onboarding of a large Australian asset manager.
Ballesty will lead the firm’s product efforts as they expand on to a third continent. He started his career in Australia, spending more than 20 years at Commonwealth Bank of Australia. His more recent roles include senior risk manager at SmartStream Technologies and sales director for Lombard Risk, both in Singapore.
CloudMargin Appoints Chief Commercial Officer
David White will join CloudMargin, the collateral margin management solution native to the cloud, in the newly-created role of chief commercial officer. He will be based in London and report to the firm’s CEO, Stuart Connolly.
White’s responsibilities will include establishing and meeting targeted revenue objectives, overseeing the sales and marketing teams, enhancing the sales management processes and working with partner firms to create a platform for increased sales cohesion.
Prior to joining CloudMargin, White served as head of sales for the triResolve business line of TriOptima, now a unit of CME Group. In the role he was responsible for the global sales team, client acquisition and revenue growth. White earned his Economics degree from Bristol University of the West of England.
