People Moves: BNP Paribas, HKEX, Broadway, BMLL, and more
A look at some of the key people moves from this week, including Tim Baker (pictured), who joins BMLL as senior advisor.
BNP Paribas appoints head of Americas developed markets strategy
BNP Paribas Markets 360 has announced the appointment of Calvin Tse as head of Americas developed markets strategy and FX strategist. In this new role, he will be tasked with producing FX content and engaging at a senior level with priority clients on global macro market themes.
Tse joins BNP Paribas from Citi, where he was most recently head of FX strategy for North America, prior to which he performed a similar role at Morgan Stanley. He also has buy-side experience as a macro strategist at Capula.
Based in New York, Tse will report globally to Sam Lynton-Brown, global head of developed markets strategy and head of G10 FX strategy, and locally to John Gallo, global head of institutional sales and co-head of global markets Americas, BNP Paribas Markets 360.
HKEX names co-head of emerging business development
Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing has appointed Daniel Sonder co-head of emerging business development. Together with co-head Julien Martin, Sonder will be responsible for leading and developing the group’s emerging business opportunities in data, ESG, carbon, and digital assets. In the newly expanded joint role, they will also have responsibility for overseeing and elevating HKEX’s fixed-income, currency, derivatives, and post-trade services offering.
Sonder is currently CFO of Brazil’s B3 and will join HKEX in May 2022.
Sonder joined B3 as CFO and investor relations officer in 2013. He was also responsible for overseeing its corporate philanthropy efforts. Previously, he was at Credit Suisse, where he was a managing director in the asset management division. He has also worked in various roles for the Brazilian Development Bank and the Brazilian government.
He will report to HKEX co-heads of markets Glenda So and Wilfred Yiu.
Broadway Technology names Lyuba Golberg chief people officer
Front-office technology provider Broadway Technology has appointed Lyuba Golberg chief people officer and promoted Shawn Stern to chief of staff.
As chief people officer, Golberg will lead the human resources department focused on the workforce behind Broadway’s fixed-income offerings. She joins Broadway from TS Imagine (a combination of TradingScreen and Imagine Software) where she was chief people officer and a TradingScreen board director since 2016. She previously served as the chief people officer of both Relationship Science and Ullink, as well as managing director of human resources at the New York Stock Exchange.
Stern has served as head of people since January 2020 and is an 11-year veteran of Broadway. As chief of staff, he will work closely with Broadway CEO Michael Chin to focus on helping Broadway expand its global teams. Stern will also oversee the company’s ESG framework as Broadway focuses on ESG initiatives that impact its customers and employees.
BMLL grows US presence with the appointment of Tim Baker
BMLL, a provider of historical Level 3 data and analytics, has added Tim Baker as senior advisor. Based in New York, Baker will be responsible for growing BMLL’s US client base and developing and implementing the company’s growth strategy in the region.
Baker previously served in a variety of senior roles at IEX, UBS, Refinitiv and Thomson Reuters.
Josh Bosquez appointed Eventus CTO
Eventus Systems, a global provider of multi-asset class trade surveillance and market risk solutions, has appointed Josh Bosquez CTO. Based in Frisco, Texas, Bosquez reports to Eventus CEO Travis Schwab and now oversees the team of engineers that design and maintain the vendor’s Validus platform.
For the past three years, Bosquez served as CTO at Armor Cloud Security, responsible for the company’s engineering, product, security, and compliance organizations for the software-as-a-service cybersecurity offering. Bosquez joined Armor in 2014 as vice president of engineering and was named senior vice president of engineering in 2017, before his promotion to CTO.
He was previously director of software engineering and later senior director of software engineering for Layered Technologies, a managed services provider for compliance solutions. He also served as senior software architect for consulting firm Miller & Associates, and senior software engineer for Achieve Healthcare Technologies.
Horizon Software appoints Fabrice Astrologi global head of client management
Horizon Software, a vendor in market-making and algorithmic trading technology, has added Fabrice Astrologi as global head of client management. In his new global role, Fabrice will oversee customer and vendor relations, as well as the company’s support offerings.
He began his career at Ubitrade and has since worked with StatPro, SunGard (now FIS), and Itiviti Group. Most recently, he held the position of global head of professional services at Broadridge.
