EDM Council adds NY Fed, Goldman Sachs alum to board

EDM Council, a cross-industry trade association for data management and analytics, has appointed Linda Avery, Verizon’s chief data and analytics officer, to its board of directors. Avery is the first to hold the CDAO position at Verizon.

Prior to joining Verizon, she was chief data officer and head of data and statistics for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Between July 2014 and August 2019, she was the architect of the organization’s data strategy and developed capabilities in areas that included artificial intelligence and analytics, data visualization, and data quality. Prior to joining the Fed, she spent 20 years at Goldman Sachs, where she was a managing director in technology.

Former BlackRock exec to head Jacobi Asset Management

Jacobi Asset Management, a digital asset investment management firm, has appointed Martin Bednall as its new chief executive officer. Bednall currently serves as managing director of FinEx Capital Management and will continue to serve in that role.

Jamie Khurshid, founder of Jacobi, will step into a new role as chairman of the board, while current chairman Roy McGregor remains as a director. McGregor also holds the position of chairman of Jacobi Investment Funds PCC Limited.

Before becoming managing director at FinEx eight years ago, Bednall spent more than 13 years in various roles at BlackRock, including as the co-head iShares product team.

Versana recruits David Kamp as CTO

Versana, a syndicated loan platform launching later this year, has announced that industry veteran David Kamp has joined the firm as chief technology officer.

In this role, Kamp will be responsible for Versana’s technology strategy, as well as building and managing its engineering and development teams. He will also collaborate closely with the company’s senior management team and client base to ensure Versana’s platform meets the technical specifications needed to create solutions for the complex syndicated loan asset class. Kamp reports directly to Cynthia Sachs, chief executive officer, and is based at the company’s headquarters in New York.

Kamp was most recently CTO at LTX, Broadridge’s electronic corporate bond trading platform. Prior to joining Broadridge, Kamp was responsible for technology at TwoFour Systems, a company he co-founded and which was subsequently acquired by Broadridge.

SIIA names interim president following Jeff Joseph departure

The Software and Information Industry Association (SIIA) executive committee of the board of directors has tapped Chris Mohr, SIIA senior vice president for intellectual property and general counsel, to be the association’s interim president. The appointment follows the recent departure of former president Jeff Joseph, who has joined a global communications firm.

Mohr joined SIIA in 2015 as vice president for IP and general counsel. He came to SIIA following 18 years in private legal practice with the firm Meyer, Klipper & Mohr, where he represented his clients on a variety of issues including intellectual property, privacy, and constitutional rights.

Simpson appointed OneTick product owner

OneMarketData, a provider of tick data management and analytics, has appointed Peter Simpson as product owner of OneTick, a specialized time-series analytics platform optimized for capture, storage, and analysis of financial data. Simpson will be responsible for ensuring OneTick products expand and evolve to keep up with customer needs.

Following three years with the company, Simpson will take on the permanent role of product owner to continue driving innovation as the platform evolves. Prior to his work with OneMarketData, Simpson held several senior roles including vice president of product at Datawatch Panopticon, senior manager of analytics at Deloitte UK, and 10 years in various roles at HSBC Global Markets.

Backstop Solutions appoints its first CISO

Backstop Solutions Group, a cloud-based productivity suite for institutional and alternative investors, has promoted Michael Neuman to become the company’s first chief information security officer.

As CISO, Neuman will lead Backstop’s efforts in elevating compliance standards internally and providing strategic counsel to Backstop’s clients to help them better adhere to security-by-design principles across their organizations. Neuman will also be responsible for the areas of privacy and trust, helping to expand Backstop’s expertise in these evolving areas of regulation and compliance.

Neuman previously served as vice president of information security at Backstop. He previously served in security roles at Textura Corporation, Guaranteed Rate, and Restaurant.com.

SunTec Business Solutions names chief strategy and transformation officer

SunTec Business Solutions, a pricing and billing provider, has appointed Pramod Perumparambil as its chief strategy and transformation officer.

Perumparambil is based out of Bengaluru, India, and will drive company-wide strategy. He will collaborate with business functions within SunTec to evaluate market conditions, develop business plans, and facilitate collaboration between stakeholders.

Prior to joining SunTec, he was part of the IBM Software Lab leadership.

VoxSmart expands C-suite

VoxSmart, a provider of communications surveillance, has tapped Robert Forrest for chief financial officer and Morgan Martins for chief marketing officer.

Forrest joins from Softonic in Barcelona, where he will continue to be based, and will travel frequently to VoxSmart’s global offices in London, Madrid, New York, and Queenstown.

Martins joins the provider from cybersecurity firm Confiant, where she was head of marketing. She will be based in New York.
