Google Announces Derek White As Vice President of Global Financial Services
Google has appointed Derek White as vice president of global financial services.
In the new role he will be responsible for setting the strategy for the financial services cloud, partnering with banks, insurance companies and other financial services entities to transform and help redefine their core businesses into digital operations.
White has more than two decades of experience in financial services. Prior to Google Cloud, he served as the chief digital officer for US Bank. He has also worked as the global head of client solutions for BBVA. Derek also held several leadership roles at Barclays, including chief design and digital officer. He was also the technology ambassador for London, appointed by then-mayor Boris Johnson to promote the UK market as a fintech capital.
Sustainalytics Taps Axel Pierron for Senior Role
Sustainalytics, an independent global provider of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) and corporate governance research and ratings to investors, has hired Axel Pierron as associate director, client relations.
Pierron was most recently managing director and co-founder at capital markets consultancy Opimas. He has also worked at Bedade, Celent, and BNP Paribas.
In the new role he heads the firm’s client relations for southern Europe (France, Italy, Spain and Switzerland). His primary responsibility is to support Sustainalytics’ client ESG integration strategy, detailing its product methodologies and helping with the development of use cases.
Sustainalytics works with a broad set of capital market firms from asset owners and asset managers to private banks and corporate and investment banking arms of global banks.
Zion Hilelly Joins IHS Markit Financial Services Solutions Group
IHS Markit has recruited Zion Hilelly as managing director, head of operations, client support and service and transformation for its Financial Services Solutions business.
Hilelly will be responsible for leading global operations and the strategic transformation of the Financial Services Solutions business. Based in New York, he reports to Andrew Eisen, SVP and Head of Financial Services Solutions.
Hilelly joins IHS Markit after serving more than two decades at BlackRock, where as a managing director he was responsible for developing and leading multiple post-trade businesses and capabilities of the firm’s flagship Aladdin platform, used globally by BlackRock and Aladdin clients.
SteelEye Hires Rob Friend As Chief Operating Officer
RegTech and data analytics provider SteelEye has appointed Rob Friend as chief operating officer.
Friend will be responsible for scaling SteelEye’s operations to optimize internal workflows, client integration and customer engagement and support. The vendor is planning expansion into North America and Asia Pacific, and a Series-B fund raise to support further growth.
Prior to joining SteelEye, Rob spent 12 years at Bloomberg, most recently as global head of enterprise product implementation and quality assurance. He has also worked at Bank of America, Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan.
FeedStock Makes Two Senior Hires
Artificial intelligence specialist FeedStock has announced the appointments of Charisma Mehta and Emily Querfurth as head of product and finance director respectively.
Mehta will drive product development for FeedStock across its portfolio. She reports into Co-CEO Charlie Henderson. She joins from Accenture’s AI team, where she worked with global clients to deliver innovative AI products and solutions.
In her role as finance director, Querfurth will be responsible for overseeing the financial performance of FeedStock, reporting into Co-CEO Lucas Wurfbain. She previously worked at Atoma Technologies, Santander and Deutsche Bank.
