People Moves: HKEx, LSEG, Esma, Finos, and more
A look at some of the key people moves from the past week, including Nicolas Aguzin (pictured), who joins HKEx as its new CEO.
HKEx appoints new chief executive
Former veteran JP Morgan Chase banker Alejandro Nicolas Aguzin begins his three-year term as the chief executive of HKEx on May 24. Aguzin is also now an ex-officio member of the HKEX board.
Aguzin’s compensation package at HKEx includes a basic salary of HK$10 million per annum.
Aguzin comes to HKEx from JP Morgan Chase, where he held a number of roles in Latin America and Asia Pacific over a three-decade career at the bank. Most recently, he was the CEO of JP Morgan’s international private bank.
Calvin Tai Chi Kin will step down from his role as interim chief executive with the appointment of Aguzin. Tai will continue in his roles as co-president and chief operating officer of HKEx.
HKEx also announced the appointment of members to its three consultative panels on cash and derivatives markets and clearing. The lists of the new members can be viewed here.
David Harris to lead sustainable finance product team at LSEG
The London Stock Exchange has appointed David Harris to lead its sustainable finance product team, part of its data and analytics division.
Harris joined FTSE in 2002 and built FTSE Russell’s sustainable finance indexes and data. He played a role in group-wide sustainable finance initiatives, such as the development of a model environmental, social, and governance disclosure and reporting guidance for LSE-listed companies. He has also worked with standard-setters and policy-makers, including the EU high-level expert group on sustainable finance.
In this new role, Harris will report to Stuart Brown, group head of enterprise data solutions. He will drive an integrated approach to sustainable finance within LSEG’s data and analytics division while bringing new products to market in this area. He will also chair an internal working group, in partnership with the FTSE Russel sustainable investment team.
Esma appoints Natasha Cazenave as executive director
The European Securities and Markets Authority has appointed Natasha Cazenave as its new executive director. Cazenave takes up her position on June 1.
Cazenave replaces Verena Ross, the outgoing executive director, who held the appointment for 10 years. Cazenave is appointed for a five-year term, renewable once.
She is currently deputy secretary-general and head of the policy and international affairs directorate at the Autorite des marches financiers, the French markets regulator.
Jane Gavronsky joins Finos as first CTO
Jane Gavronsky will become Finos’s first chief technology officer. Her mandate is to work with the foundation’s members to implement open source solutions to address the most prominent problems across the financial services ecosystem.
As CTO, Gavronksy will focus on facilitating efforts across data, regulatory compliance, and cloud certification.
Gavronsky previously served as a managing director at Credit Suisse, where she held roles including head of data services, hosting and data services technology, and led the global reference data services organization.
Northern Trust appoints global head of asset servicing product management
Northern Trust has appointed Arthur Hill as senior vice president, head of product management for asset servicing. Based in Chicago, he will lead product strategy and development, overseeing a global team of asset servicing product leads.
Hill joins Northern Trust from Capgemini, where he was a senior director for its global insurance and financial services group. He has more than 25 years of experience in the financial services and insurance industry.
At Capgemini and other consulting firms, Hill led major initiatives for financial services clients in the US, UK, and other countries. Earlier in his career, he served as an executive relationship manager for insurance clients in the US.
Exactpro appoints new director of business development in Asia Pacific
Exactpro, a software testing services provider for financial market infrastructures, has appointed Hiroshi Matsubara as director of business development for Asia Pacific.
Matsubara spent 17 years overseeing product marketing and communication activities in Fidessa (now Ion Group) in Asia after holding various product marketing positions, both in Japan and in the UK and US. Earlier this year, he established his own consultancy firm, Pine Grove Research, which focused on new technologies in financial markets. He has served as co-chair of the Japan regional committee of the Fix Trading Community since 2007.
Matsubara began his career in 1987, as a graduate trainee at Reuters, marketing financial information and electronic transaction products.
oneZero appoints Marc Reider to product management role
Multi-asset enterprise trading technology solutions provider, oneZero, has announced that Marc Reider has joined the company as director of hub product management.
Reider spent the last 10 years at Refinitiv (formerly Thomson Reuters), where he most recently served as development manager for the FXall product. He worked on several applications, including building the FX options product for FXall, and the multi-asset callouts platform. Reider also spent 15 years at Credit Suisse, where he was director of foreign exchange IT.
Reider earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of California, Los Angeles.
