People Moves: ISDA, ASX, Eventus Systems and CLS

A look at some of the key "people moves" from this week, including Keith Tippell (pictured) who joins CLS as head of product.

CLS Appoints Head of Product

Market infrastructure group delivering settlement processing and data solutions CLS has announced the hiring of Keith Tippell as the new head of product for the company.

Tippell will be responsible for overseeing CLS’ existing product suite and new product development in the settlement and processing business lines.

With over 20 years of experience in the financial technology sector, Tippell focused his skills on the FX and OTC derivatives trade market. In his previous role, he was the head of business development for Europe and Asia Pacific at Droit Financial Technologies. He has also held numerous product management and business development roles at both SWIFT and Markit.

Two New Directors Join ISDA Board

The International Swaps and Derivatives Association (Isda) today announced that two new directors have joined its board of directors.

Tina Hasenpusch and Taihei Okabe join the board as the derivatives industry undertakes the transition from interbank offered rates to risk-free rates and a review of market structure due to the Covid-19 pandemic. 

Hasenpusch is a managing director and global head of clearing house operations at CME Group, and serves as a member of CME Group’s Clearing House management team. Before assuming this role in July 2017, she was CEO of CME Clearing Europe from June 2015. She joined CME in 2009, initially as head of clearing and business development.

Hasenpusch joins Daniel Maguire, group director, post trade, London Stock Exchange Group; and Erik Tim Mueller, CEO of Eurex Clearing AG, as central counterparty (CCP) representatives on the Isda Board. Maguire’s term on the board is set to expire at the Isda AGM as part of a regular rotation of CCP seats after each serves a two-year term.

Okabe stepped into the role of managing director, head of derivatives trading at Mizuho Securities this year, having previously held the role of head of rates derivatives trading at the firm since 2018. Okabe replaces Yutaka Amagi, managing director and head of global markets planning division at MUFG Bank.

The election of other primary member Board directors and the appointment of subscriber and associate directors will take place at the AGM in November.

ASX Corporate Governance Council Names New Chief Compliance Officer

The ASX corporate governance council has announced changes in the representatives of the council. Kevin Lewis will step down as ASX’s chief compliance officer, effective July 1, after a decade in the role. He will assume another role at the firm as he transitions to retirement in mid-2022.

Janine Ryan will fill the role of chief compliance officer. Ryan is currently ASX’s deputy general counsel and has been a member of the ASX Legal team since 2013, after joining from Gilbert & Tobin, where she was a partner in the equity capital markets practice.

Eventus Systems Names Four Key Positions

Trade surveillance and risk management software platform provider Eventus Systems has announced the appointment of four finance, market and technology professionals to the firm. Perry Barth will join the company as chief financial officer, Dan Burton as vice president of engineering, Nolan Schiff as director of relationship management, and Sharad Kumar as sales engineer.

Barth and Burton will be based in Austin, Texas, where the firm’s headquarters are. They will be reporting to CEO Travis Schwab. Schiff and Kumar will operate out of Chicago, reporting respectively to Jeff Bell, Eventus president, and Scott Schroeder, global head of sales.

Barth has over 20 years of experience in finance and accounting leadership roles. Most recently, he served as vice president and CFO for Alchemy Systems, a software-as-a-service firm focused on employee safety training. He held the same roe at Uplogix, a network management company.

Burton has 20 years of experience in senior technology roles, most recently as managing director, development for proprietary trading firm DRW since 2017, where he led a team of software developers in developing, maintaining and enhancing one of the firm’s trading systems and related internal tools. Previously, he spent more than eight years at RGM Advisors, LLC before its acquisition by DRW, first as product manager and then as managing director, development.

Schiff has over 24 years of experience leading product development processes. He spent the past seven years at INTL FCStone Inc. in Chicago, initially as Product Manager and later as Director of Product / Enterprise Data. He was also division director, managed foreign exchange for Peregrine Financial Group, as well as vice president of FX for Refco FX Associates and for R.J. O’Brien & Associates.

Kumar has 15 years of experience in proprietary trading and technology firms in Chicago and New York, most recently as director of vendor relations for Telnyx LLC, a communications software firm. He also spent four years as chief risk and trading officer at Summit Securities Group LLC
