A look at the past month’s people moves within the tech and data space.

BNY Mellon Pershing hires Murphy as new chief commercial officer for EMEA.

BNY Mellon Pershing, a data management solutions provider, has hired Colin Murphy as chief commercial officer for EMEA.

Murphy was previously chief revenue officer at SmartTrade Technologies, and has also served as global head of sales - optimization at CME Group, chief commercial officer at NEX Group, and a managing director in Goldman Sachs’ prime brokerage business. In his new role, he will report to BNY Mellon Pershing’s EMEA CEO, Cécile Nagel.

Olesky to step down at Tradeweb, Aigrain elected as next chairman.

Tradeweb Markets, an operator of electronic marketplaces for rates, credit, equities and money markets, has announced that chairman Lee Olesky will retire from the board of directors at the end of the second quarter of 2023.

Olesky co-founded Tradeweb in 1996, and retired as CEO of the company in December 2022 after more than 20 years in senior leadership positions.

Jacques Aigrain, a former board director at the London Stock Exchange Group, who joined Tradeweb’s board as an independent director in 2022, will succeed Olesky as chairman of the board of directors on July 1, 2023.

HKEx names Loong as new head of digital assets.

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) has announced Andrew Loong has joined the company as a managing director and head of digital assets.

Loong will report to HKEx group head of emerging business and its fixed income and currencies division, Glenda So.

DTCC’s Druskin to retire, Kessinger to replace.

The Depository Trust & Clearing Corp has appointed DTCC board member Kevin Kessenger  non-executive chairman of its board of directors and of the board executive committee.

Kessenger takes over the Chairman role from Robert Druskin, who is retiring from the DTCC board after 12 years at the end of 2023.

Rimes appoints Brickwood as chief product officer.

Enterprise data management solutions provider Rimes has appointed Justin Brickwood as chief product officer. Brickwood joined Rimes in 2021, and previously held managing director roles at Barclays and Goldman Sachs.

TS Imagine expands APAC team.

TS Imagine, a cross-asset provider of trading, portfolio, and risk management solutions, has hired Stephanie Cheung as a sales director and An Hoong as part of the account management team, and has promoted Simarjit Johal to lead the division.

Johal was previously co-head of professional services & account management, and joined TS Imagine in 2014.

Cheung was previously a strategic account manager at Enfusion covering hedge funds, family offices and asset management firms, while Hoong has spent 15 years in financial services, working at firms such as Enfusion, Dealogic and Cantor Fitzgerald. Both new hires are based in Hong Kong.

LiquidityBook hire Cavin Woo as principal software engineer.

LiquidityBook, a provider of cloud-native buy- and sell-side trading solutions, announced the hiring of Cavin Woo as principal software engineer. Woo, who worked at social video startup SnappyTV prior and throughout its acquisition by Twitter, will focus on building out LiquidityBook’s execution management system.

US states are increasingly banning or limiting the use of non-compete contracts, but financial firms are using them more frequently to safeguard proprietary tech and data assets—including the knowledge of the individuals who work on them.
