Morgan Stanley Taps Katherine Wetmur for Senior Technology Role

Katherine Wetmur, Morgan Stanley’s international chief information officer, has been appointed the new head of technology and operations risk effective immediately.

In her new role, Wetmur will oversee the organization’s central technology and operations risk functions. She will work closely with Morgan Stanley’s business and technology teams for a swift transition and will relocate to New York.

Sigal Zarmi, head of transformation, will be adding the role of International CIO to her current responsibilities and relocate to London. She will continue to report to Rob Rooney, head of technology, operations and firm resilience, and will now also report to Clare Woodman, head of Morgan Stanley EMEA, locally. She will join the EMEA Operating Committee and take on Wetmur’s senior manager responsibilities following regulatory approval. 

Zarmi will manage the organization’s diverse international technology footprint the technology teams in its Global In-house Centers.

Refinitiv Announces Tiffany Welch as Head of Canada

Refintiv has announced the appointment of Tiffany Welch as head of Canada. 

In this role, Tiffany will be responsible for the market’s overall strategy, customer engagement and growth generation across Refinitiv’s solution portfolio.

Previously, she was vice president, platform and technology at SAP. She has also held executive roles in several startups, led the channel strategy at SAS and co-founded a private-equity funded data-as-a-service technology company. She has 25 years of experience in technology entrepreneurship and experience and has led teams across B2B companies. 

Tiffany holds an HBA from McGill University and a MSc from Boston University. 

SimCorp Snaps Up de Rooij

SimCorp has hired Richard de Rooij as senior manager, EMEA, responsible for sales and business development activities for the vendor’s Coric product, a client reporting and communications platform for asset management and private wealth management firms.

De Rooij spent the last 11 years at German data vendor VWD Group in roles including director of international sales, business director, and business development manager, prior to which he was co-founder of RB Solutions, a digital marketing and communications agency, and was sales and account manager at Tijd Beursmedia. He reports to Karel Tant, VP of sales in EMEA at SimCorp.

This week the firm also announced the appointment of Jakob Højland as commercial director for cloud services. In this newly created role, he will oversee the commercial aspect of SimCorp’s cloud transformation, which aims to complement the client experience and deliver global buy-side institutions with a complete offer, for their operational needs.

Højland spent several years at Microsoft, as Global Account Executive in Financial Services and Fintech, Jakob led a team of over 20 colleagues, covering the entire Microsoft portfolio of products, cloud services and professional services.

Mediolanum Hires Barry Noonan As Chief Information Officer

The European asset management platform of Mediolanum Banking Group, Mediolanum International Funds Ltd, has announced the appointment of Barry Noonan as its new chief information officer.

Noonan will spearhead Mediolanum Irish Operations’ IT strategy, advising and supporting the CEO and the board of directors. Based in Dublin, he will report directly to CEO Furio Pietribiasi.

He joins from leading Irish Fintech, Taxback International.

BNY Mellon Appoints Robin Vince in Senior Role

The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation has appointed Robin Vince as vice chair of BNY Mellon and CEO of Global Market Infrastructure, effective October 1. 

In the new role, Vince will have oversight of BNY Mellon’s clearance and collateral management, treasury services, Markets and Pershing businesses. Vince will report to Todd Gibbons, CEO of BNY Mellon, and will join BNY Mellon’s Executive Committee.

Vince joins BNY Mellon from Goldman Sachs, which he joined in 1994 and where he has held many senior roles at the organization. Most recently he served as chief risk officer and a member of the management committee.

Qontigo Taps Rodolphe Bocquet as Global Head of ESG

Qontigo has announced the appointment of Rodolphe Bocquet as global head of ESG, effective as of September 22. 

In the newly-created position, Bocquet will lead Qontigo’s expansion of indexing and analytics in the ESG space.

He most recently served as an independent sustainability consultant working with a range of clients, including the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank. In 2014, he co-founded and served as chief executive officer of a start-up, Beyond Ratings, which was acquired by the London Stock Exchange Group in May 2019.

Former Chairman and CEO of MarkitSERV Takes Director Role at Quorsus

Quorsus, provider of consultancy services to financial institutions, has announced the appointment of former Markit executive Jeff Gooch as its first non-executive director. In this position he will provide strategic insight into business planning, financial governance, and management decision making.

Gooch has over 30 years’ experience in the financial services industry and has spent his career building and scaling up businesses, particularly in the financial technology space. Starting at Ernst & Young where he led the financial management consulting team for financial services for eight years, he then served as managing director at Morgan Stanley for 10 years. Following this, he spent nine years as an executive committee member at Markit, including serving as CEO and chairman of MarkitSERV and most recently as group CFO before retiring.

Delta Capital Appoints Sarah Carver as Head of Digital

Delta Capita, a provider of managed services, fintech solutions and consulting, has appointed Sarah Carver as its head of digital. She will take responsibility for growing the company’s digital business and developing new market propositions.

Carver previously worked at Capco Digital and Accenture.

Solidatus Hires John Tobin As Data Architect

Metadata management software provider Solidatus has appointed John Tobin as data architect.

He joins from Goldman Sachs where he worked for 15 years. Most recently he was senior engineer with Goldman Sachs’ data governance department.

In the new roles he is responsible for designing and implementing models for the Solidatus portfolio of reference model assets.
