Nasdaq promotes Jeremy Skule as chief strategy officer
Nasdaq has appointed Jeremy Skule to the position of executive vice president and chief strategy officer.
Skule will lead the Nasdaq’s global strategy organization to drive strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, venture investing and NasdaqNext innovation. He will also continue to oversee Nasdaq’s marketing and communications division, now part of global strategy.
Skule joined Nasdaq in 2012, and has led the global rebranding of Nasdaq, and held a leadership role in developing the company’s 2017 strategic pivot to improve data, analytics and technology. Under Skule’s leadership, his team revamped the company’s lead generation process, redesigned Nasdaq’s digital and social media properties, and introduced a new global thought leadership platform.
Santander UK taps Rakshit Kapoor as chief data officer
Santander UK has announced the appointment of Rakshit Kapoor as chief data officer for Santander UK and head of data transformation for Europe.
Rakshit brings over two decades of experience in senior data and IT roles, having most recently served as group chief data officer at HSBC, where he was responsible for the development and implementation of HSBC’s group-wide data and analytics strategy.
Prior to that he held roles at US insurance company Travelers, where he was global CIO for data, analytics, and AI/robotic process automation, and at JP Morgan, where he was managing director, data management and analytics.
Rakshit will join Santander on February 1, reporting to Iain Plunkett, chief operating officer, for his UK role, and Cristina San Jose, global head of new models and data unit, for his European role.
John Young joins Barings as chief data scientist
Investment manager Barings has appointed John Young as chief data scientist, effective January 19.
Young will report directly to Steve Boehm, COO, and sit on his global technology and operations leadership team.
He joins Barings from C2FO, a working capital marketplace that matches the cash flow needs of buyers and suppliers, where he was chief data and scientific officer. Previously, he was VP of advanced engineering and data science for DST.
S4 grows data admin team
Miami, FL.-based market data consultancy S4 Market Data has hired Jason Allen as a market data analyst to bolster its subject matter expertise in market data administration and vendor management.
Allen was previously VP of market data services at BNY Mellon’s Pershing division, where he spent almost 14 years, following six years at NYSE as a market data analyst.
Allen reports to S4 founder and CEO Bernardo Santiago.
Capco hires James Arnett as head of APAC
Capco has named James Arnett as managing partner for the APAC region with responsibility for managing the firm’s business across Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia.
Arnett led and built out Capco’s UK Finance, Risk and Compliance practice and most recently was head of the UK Capital Markets practice. He joined Capco in 2011 having held roles at IBM Global Business Services, Capita, Hewlett Packard Enterprise and The Co-operative Bank.
James will be based out of Capco’s Hong Kong office.
BTIG makes senior hires in international equities
BTIG has announced that two seniors hires, Neil Roberts and Matt Austin, have joined the firm’s Institutional Equities division. Roberts joins as an equity sales trader and a managing director, while Austin joins the firm as an equity trader and director. Both will be based in the firm’s London office.
Roberts was previously a director within the sales trading division at Barclays Capital, where he spent more than 11 years. Prior to that, Roberts was a sales trader at Citigroup, where he served for over a decade. Earlier in his career, he was an equity sales trader at Schroders.
Austin was most recently a director within the equity trading unit at Barclays, where he spent nearly 10 years as a pan-European cash trader and market maker, specializing in the consumer sector. He began his career participating in a graduate rotation within Equity Sales and Trading at Citigroup.
