A look at some of the key "people moves" from this week, including Jane Western (pictured) who has been appointed chief operating officer (COO) at Northern Trust.
Northern Trust Makes Senior Hires
Northern Trust has appointed Jane Western as chief operating officer of front office solutions and Deirdre Cannell as senior business development executive for front office solutions.
Western has served on the front office solutions leadership team since August 2019 and as interim COO since December 2019. She previously had senior roles at Wilshire Associates, Fidelity Investments, Ameritech, The Boeing Company and the American Red Cross before joining Northern Trust.
Cannell will be responsible for new business development for front office solutions across North America. She was previously at SS&C where she worked in business development and key account management. Prior to that, she worked at SimCorp and Bridgewater Associates.
Solve Hires Simon Crabb for EMEA Sales
New York-based fixed income pricing provider Solve Advisors has hired Simon Crabb as head of business development for Europe, Middle East and Africa, following the opening of a new office in London. His role will be to increase awareness of Solve’s brand in the region and generate new revenue lines, establish new partnerships, and enhance existing relationships.
Crabb was most recently responsible for new business sales and account management for the PriceABS market and reference data service for securitized products at Structured Credit Investor, prior to which he spent two years in a similar role at SIX, and spent five years before that in pricing and reference data sales at Interactive Data. Previously, he was a sales executive at Lewtan Technologies, an associate director at S&P, and was associate publisher of Credit magazine at Risk Waters Group (now part of WatersTechnology parent Infopro Digital).
He reports to New York-based Michael Pascuma, COO and global head of business development at Solve.
Alerian Announces Robert Hughes as Head of Sales
Index provider Alerian has appointed Robert Hughes as the firm’s new head of sales.
Previously, Hughes was the global head of index and advisor solutions for Nasdaq Global Indexes. He has also served as a director for the Independent Research Network, a joint venture co-owned by Nasdaq and Reuters.
In his new role, Hughes will be responsible for managing and developing sales strategies for Alerian’s indexing, benchmarking and calculation services. He is also expected to advance the global footprint of the firm’s energy infrastructure, thematic, and smart beta indexes.
Christoph Kruecken Joins Bedford Row Capital
Bedford Row Capital, a global non-bank originator, has appointed Christoph Kruecken as global head of business development and distribution, based in Zurich.
Kruecken joins BRC from UBS Asset Management where he held the position of head liquidity management, EMEA at the headquarters in Zurich. He has previously also worked at BlackRock, TD Securities and Bank of Scotland.
Aite Group Appoints New Senior Analysts
Consultancy Aite Group has announced some senior appointments.
Rodney Nelsestuen is a senior analyst covering strategic IT issues relevant to chief information officers (CIOs) across financial services. Most recently, he was CIO and chief information security officer at Merchants Bank NA. Previously, Nelsestuen spent seven years advising global financial institutions and technology vendors at CEB TowerGroup, through research and consulting. Prior to that, he was the CIO at Agribank.
Vinod Jain is a senior analyst who supports the efforts of Aite Group’s Institutional Securities & Investment team, focusing on institutional trading operations, post-trade processing, audit and regulatory compliance, and data management across equity, fixed income, and OTC derivatives.
He has over two decades of experience in the capital markets. Most recently he served as an advisory director and sales manager for ezops, a fintech firm specializing in data control in post-trade processing. Jain has held various consulting roles at PwC, Headstrong (Genpact), and Wipro Technologies.
Gresham Technologies Taps Vincent Him As Sales Director
Gresham Technologies has appointed Vincent Him as sales director, Europe.
He will be responsible for growing existing customer partnerships and winning new transformation opportunities among banks, asset managers and capital markets firms across the entire Clareti suite of products and services, enabling users to validate, reconcile and report complex data in real-time.
Previously he held senior sales roles at Duco and SmartStream.
