Portware will be able to provide its clients with disaster recovery capabilities, low-latency and secure access to cloud-based applications.

"The efficiency and cost benefits of deploying in the cloud are a main reason why the overwhelming majority of new Portware clients, as well as several existing clients, have chosen our cloud deployment model over the past 18 months," says Vincent Aniello, global head of infrastructure at Portware. "Equinix will help us deliver a globally consistent level of quality and service, and ensure we continue to offer our clients the most powerful, globally available and innovative trading solution on the market."

Cloud Attraction
For John Adam, global head of product management at Portware, buy-side firms are increasingly willing to leverage cloud-based infrastructure to better suit their global needs and help them cut costs.

"It's a more scalable and flexible system and as the industry is transitioning toward electronic trading, the need for more scalable, resilient and high-performance trading platforms to reduce time-to-market has become very important," he says.

Portware is also planning to connect to the Equinix datacenter in Chicago later this year.
