Spread Trader is written in HTML5 and runs in a secure OpenFin container, which specializes in HTML5 runtime technology. Adrian Stack, product manager for spread trading and derivatives at Redi, tells WatersTechnology that clients will see improvements in performance and usability in the newly released tool.

"Users will experience a modern, workflow-friendly interface coupled with powerful advanced parameters for controlling how spreads will execute. The ability to push out application updates on the back-end alone will also be a big benefit to clients," Stack says.

Development on Spread Trader took nine months, according to Stack. There was also a significant beta-testing period, which Stack says was vital to the release. Beta testers worked hand in hand with developers, and their feedback led directly to some enhancements.

"Several clients allowed our user experience (UX) team to sit with them during the trading day to collect real-time feedback on layout and usability," Stack says. "Several components of the application—including the workflow for cloning spreads and the heat map proximity indicators—were designed in partnership with beta clients."

Next in line for rollout on the new platform is Redi's charting tool, which he says was recently redeveloped. It is currently in the beta period, and he expects a formal rollout in another month or too. Stack says the tool will be integrated with Spread Trader to allow users to analyze historic trends of the spreads they are trading.
