T. Rowe Price Taps Former BlackRock Strategist for APAC Strategy Role
Shen will focus on creating solutions for institutional investors in the Asia-Pacific region.
Shen will work with the team to create customized multi-asset solutions for institutional clients in the APAC region. Poullaouec says these solutions would typically invest in a wide range of assets such as equity, fixed income, alternatives, as well as markets and sectors.
“The multi-asset division of T. Rowe Price develops and manages a range of customized and targeted investment solutions, backed by our world-class, multi-asset, global equity and fixed income strategies. We use a combination of proprietary technology and market vendors to achieve these goals,” he adds.
Poullaouec says that in an era of changing demographics and falling yields, investors in APAC are demanding for more comprehensive multi-asset investment solutions that offer access to investments in a broad set of countries, sectors and capital structures. “Our recently launched target-income funds and target date funds with Korea Investment Management in South Korea, are examples of such solutions,” he says.
He sees growing interest in downside risk management and durable alpha solutions, as investors are concerned with the current valuations of equity markets.
Shen joins T. Rowe from BlackRock Asset Management, where she was vice president for multi-asset solutions. She led the firm’s Asia model portfolio business and was responsible for developing and managing a range of investment solutions from product design to launch to post-launch support. Prior to her seven-plus years at BlackRock, she held various investment banking roles at JPMorgan Securities.
Shen’s addition to the team is part of a strategic expansion of the multi-asset division regionally and globally. This includes the recent appointment of Nick Samouilhan as a solutions strategist for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, based in London.
