The integration will leverage both Eikon’s and Symphony’s open APIs and is scheduled for completion later this year. Market participants who have Thomson Reuters Eikon and Symphony will be able to share Eikon content via the Symphony tool. If message recipients also have Eikon, then live data, news and charts can be shared.

“While Eikon users can already share Eikon content with counterparts via our strategic open Eikon Messenger platform, this partnership gives our customers the choice to extend these collaboration capabilities to the Symphony community,” says Debra Walton, global managing director of customer propositions at Thomson Reuters, in a statement.

Symphony founder and chief executive David Gurlé says the partnership will provide the Symphony community with “a comprehensive and integrated collaboration and workflow solution. Customers will be able to execute entire workflows within Symphony through the seamless integration of powerful communication and collaboration capabilities with information-rich content and business critical applications.”

In May, Symphony raised $63 million in new funding to further develop its platform, increase global adoption, and support expansion into new markets.
